Default What was one of your most defining moments in your life?

I used to spend my vacations in the country side in northern portugal, where my grandparents used to live and were from. We stay sometimes without seeing eachothers more than half a year .
One of my childhood memories was when we were returning, me looking from the back window of my father's car and looking at my grandfather. He would stayed there at his door steps, watching us disappear into the horizon with tears in his eyes. This image of him always stook with me, always had a profund impact.

Many years later after his death, in a very specific context this memory made me change completely the way I approach life.

So, what was one of your most defining moments in your life?

    Go ahead fellas

For me, one of my most defining moments is when I spent 2 weeks in Aswan in Upper Egypt where many of it's local inhabitants aren't urban or anything. I spend those days in a small village where some of my maternal relatives live. They've been to Egypt in the 50's, and they're married to the local Egyptians and are very assimilated to their culture and whatnot, but still kept their family ties in tact. Spending most of your time outside with many Egyptians without having to spend most of your day on the Internet and other technologies is indeed a very sensational experience for me. Honestly, the reason why we feel that life is short is simply because we're spending our time too much on technology which make the day go so quickly and fast.

Mine would be when my father died. Since then I've viewed life a little differently, namely not getting too emotional over things. To acknowledge a "silver lining" that came from that - it made me a much stronger person, and nothing short of bereavement has the power to stress me out.

People often comment about how unstressed a person I am; that's really because I've faced pretty much the ultimate stress, and it puts everything else into perspective.

When I gave birth at home for the first time. It was a long and hard labor, I didn't know what was going to happen, I got stronger from it.

When I got my first car was probably the biggest life-change,suddenly I could go anywhere I want and not think about public transport and late hours.

Was a silver BMW M3 e36 like this one,I had so much fun with that thing, but it was too old already and my constant abuse aged it even faster so it had to go.

Graduating Infantry Basic/AIT at Ft. Benning. Got to bed at 11, wake up at 4 AM. It does prepare you for what is forthcoming though. Infantry duty will test one in many ways.
