I think it is true, most of the Greeks posted by Sikeliot and Greek members seem to be lighter (hair & eyes) than Italians and Spaniards. What do you think?

Visiting balkans twice a year (Bulgaria, to be more precise) I see nothing familiar, both in terms of race and identity, and the same was confirmed by a Bulgarian user here

I concur with that in general.
Yes,alot of Bulgarians themselfes say also they look different from Greeks.

Yet some similarities with Bulgarians and other Balkanites exist..

But distinctivly Bulgarian or Slavic looks or not common in Greece in my opinion.

Greece Balkan past? The biggest part of the "old" 2/3 greece's history is with Mediterraneans-italy, Spain, even Franks (French) during the last Millennium, not balkans

And even in the first Millennium we definitely shared even more history with Mediterranean than balkans

But yes, some regions shared more history with balkans

With balkan past i mean Illyrians and Thracians , Greeks had colonies in their countries and many
Thracians visited Greece.
Actually Thracians and Greeks were related and similar tribes

Spartakus was from Balkans , maybe Greek from Colonies in Thracian lands.

Cretans are the lightest Greeks, so things might change if they use Cretans to represent Greece.

Thessaloniki is one of the darker cities with Pontian population,
the german map is more accurate and take all the regions together

No it's not. The majority of the population are native Greeks despite a significant number of Pontians. The Percentages that Percivalle gave seem accurate.

I know many Cretans with light eyes, I think their % of light eyes is about the Greek average.

Its not just Med , never was

1)Thracians and illyrians, have nothing in common with modern Balkan slavs, and from personal experience, if you tell them that they are "slavicised illyrians" you will end up with broken arms

2)even during antiquity, other than "Greek colonies in illyria" Greeks didn't have things in common with pre-slavic Balkans

3)most of Greeks are genetically closer to central Italy than Balkans

Anyway, most of Greek regions today, for particular reasons associate themselves with Mediterranean Europe, not with Balkans, and I see no problem with that, would you agree?
