Australia is debating what to do about its statues that honor colonizers

As the US confronts the question of what to do with the statues of Confederate generals like Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, Australia is contending with its own contentious memorials.

“Australia is awash in memorials glorifying settlers and colonists, some of whom did quite heinous acts,” wrote Freya Higgins-Desbiolles, a senior lecturer in tourism at the University of South Australia. These men include explorer James Cook who “discovered” Australia in 1770, and Lachlan Macquarie (pdf), a former governor of the state of New South Wales, whose statues were vandalized over the weekend in Sydney’s Hyde Park.

Universities in the west are becoming a cesspool of people with destructive and harmful ideas.

Destroying history is not progressive,it's regressive.

I wonder how this whole liberal revolution will end for the west. Will this whole thing blow off like an old trend in some years,or will they completely take over and rearrange the face of western society forever.

I'm happy these things have no soil to grow in my parts.

Yeah, a few local libtards with nothing productive to do for society thought they'd jump on the same revisionist bandwagon seen in the US and elsewhere. Luckily, the backlash has been pretty strong, and even some aboriginal figures have opposed the libtard agenda.

Despite the rise of feminism and the massive welfare state here I think Australia is more conservative than Europe, and the libtard agenda just doesn't resonate with the general population, which is more concerned about economics - what the left used to fight for before it switched its focus to matters of social equality. The national same sex marriage survey is about to run, the results of which will be interesting.
