    Hellooooo.
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”

And I'm not ''he'' either (even if in Finnish...there is actually only one and same word to describe both sex).

So both of your parents are fully of Swedish origin and your connection with the Finns is by culture and citizenship, but not ancestry, right?
    Do what you should.

    Ancestry:
I do't believe fully/totally. Today Finnish Swedes ''needs'' to have some Finnish blood too. Or I believe so. Maybe the only exception can be those Finnish Swedes who lives in Åland (but my mother comes from west coast/Ostrobothnia). How much? There are no good studies on that. But yes. Big parts of my ancestries comes from Sweden. That's why I also put Scandinavian flag into my profile. So I'm not shame on that. It's part of me.

Culture point of view? You're right. I'm more Finn than Swede (my mentality or how I behave). I notice that as I visit in Sweden. Finns are more direct than Swedes (or less polite if you want to call the same matter that way). But Finnish Swedes have bit their own culture. It's one kind of mix of Swedish and Finnish cultures. And as quite obivious, we have our own Swedish dialect too.

Can you say if the Finnish Swedes commonly tend to lean more to Finnish culture or to Swedish culture?

At first I want to say that the culture gap between Sweden and Finland is not as huge as some foreigner might think. Just because Swedes are Scandinavians (north Germans) and Finns are Finno Ugrics. I know; Swedes sometimes tries to point out that gap (saying Finns are different). It's true what comes to genetics. But just looking the culture sides, it is bit comic as Swedes (their ancestors) largely moulded/created Finland as it is today. Of course there are differencies today, but small ones in Europe level (even northern side of Alps). Finland was apart of Sweden more than 700 years (and non-stop). By that time Finland has been influenced alot by Sweden and Swedes. If those countries would not been together...I bet we would see much much bigger differencies. One could actually ask, how much Finno-Ugric cultures Swedes destroyed; more than Finns pagen religion? Do't know. As the eastern border line of Great Sweden (border between Russia and Sweden) variated quite a much in that same 700 years time...some parts of Eastern Finland have taken something from Russians culture as well. Some foods are good examples.

Ok. I guess it variates between Finnish Swedes: which culture is more close. If you can speak only Swedish then Swedish culture is automatically more closer to you. If you can read/follow Finland's main TV cannels/magazines etc.; I guess it variates. That's still not a big deal. Mentally they all feels to be Finland's citizen. I have NEVER met any Finland's Swede who would support Sweden in FIN - SWE ice hockey game. Nope; not even those who lives (or have lived some times) in Sweden.
