Turkey marks victory of Battle of Manzikert’s 946th anniversary

Commemorations were held across the country to mark the pivotal victory, and President Erdoğan addressed mass crowds that gathered at the 1071 Victory Square in Turkey’s Muş province

The key historical victory of the Battle of Manzikert was commemorated by Turkey on Saturday.

In 1071 the Seljuk Turks defeated the Byzantine army, opening up Anatolia for Turkish rule. After the Byzantine army was destroyed the Seljuks went on to capture Anatolia from the Byzantine Empire.

Commemorations were held across the country to mark the pivotal victory.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed mass crowds that gathered at the 1071 Victory Square in Turkey’s eastern Muş province.

Anno 1071, Malazgirt, when the messengers of Tengris stormed on their Dragons to the Orient. The Vision that this people has driven to conquer half the world. These warrior gods from the deep steppe with a warriorspirit who has devoured half the world. They commanded an army so great, that the earth trembled under them, so powerful that they drank the rivers empty. The mighty clan of the t'u-küe (the mighty Turks) who conquered everything that came under the sun.

Religion doesn't matter lol, you can conquer if you're Muslim, Buddhist or a complete third thing. The reason why they were able to conquer is partially because the Iranians in Central Asia lost their efficient tactics that would otherwise have sent the Turks back to the Steppes, like they've done earlier in Sassanid times. Otherwise the Turks would have invaded the Middle East in the 7th century which wasn't the case.

However their conquests were still very succesful regardless of religion.

Yeah, as if Turks were peaceful farmers before Islam with no talent in warfare. LOL. Nigga, too much Islam is melting your brain down. Get a grip, don't be so oversensitive bitch.

Turks were pretty superficial muslims at that time, as various historical sources pointed it out. They have Tengiristic soldiers in their ranks too like Cumans, Pechenges, Guz and etc. I know it is hard for you to swallow but accept it and move on.

Tengrism was the driving force that helped the Turks to succeed. The Turks have always been Islamic heterodox since they convert to Islam- they mixed Islamic prayers with tengristic rituals. Thanks to the Turks there are so many sects in the Islamic world today.

One of my friends who was formerly ultra nationalist has told me that Gök tengri and Allah were actually the same deity so there was no problem with worshiping Tengri instead of Allah. I said formerly because he hates Turks and Turkey now because of the recent events and never-ending AKP election victories. What do you nationalists think about it? He was right?
