According to Greek members any Greek with unpleasant appearance/phenotype is "Hellenized something," which makes me think that only 10% of Greeks are actually ethnic Greeks. I used to think that Greek citizens were overwhelmingly of ethnic Greek origin (more than 90%) but I was wrong apparently.
According to Greek members:
Pontian Greeks = Hellenized Eastern Black Sea people
Cypriot Greeks = Hellenized Levantines
Greek Islanders = Hellenized native Aegeans
Asia Minor Greeks = Hellenized ancient Anatolians
MENA-looking Cretans = Hellenized Armenians who were brought by Byzantines in the 9th century (make up most of Crete's population, interestingly)
MENA-looking mainlanders = Gypsies posing as Greeks, Hellenized Anatolian immigrants etc.
Let's start with some examples, if you post Greeks who look like these:
Etnic Cretan - According to Greek members: Hellenized Armenian whose were brought by Byzantines in the 9th century (to me he looks stereotypical Greek with his east med characteristics)
