Videogaming as a kid vs videogaming as an adult

Video games today are too time consuming and not particularly fun. I rather play Pac-Man. That's a hard ass fucking game. Those early arcade games look simplistic but they're incredibly demanding on your mind and stamina (yeah, I know it sounds goofy). More so than today's video games. The large majority of people can't get past the first level of Donkey Kong.

I dislike how much space modern games take up on your PC. Some of them carry over 60 GB od data (like GTA V). That's insane.

As a child, when I was five years old, I remember that I used to play Diablo and Red Alert (which was released when I was a six year old, though), since then, I've finished most games worthy of attention. The best one of all times for me is Baldur's gate 2, and I even consider BG2 to be the best cultural work ever done.

That and Fallout 2 are my favorites.

Somehow BG's did not get me in. Tried both but did not finish, however played both Faullouts a lot. What about Divinities Original Sin. THey are great imo. Though another recent and very praised RPGs like Pillar of ETernity or Tyranny did not impress me much

BG2 was my introduction to The Forgotten Realms lore. Made me want to buy BG1, but I couldn't find it anyway, until I found a special edition that was bugged. Later I bought a non-bugged version, but I lost interest now. I know they've been re-realised with added content.

The oldest game I still return to is Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri from 1999.

The sequel is much better, but original Baldur's gate is still one of the best RPGs out there. There are tons of other RPGs, yeah, but if you're into oldschool tactical ones, there aren't many to choose from anyway. In the videogame development, lowest common denominator policy is unfortunately the norm now.

As far as reception goes, Divinity: Original Sin II is supposed to be great and innovative. Unfortunately, my PC is way too slow to handle it. I can have a new one anytime, but there's no point, as there are dozens of older games I want to finish and the longer I wait to get a new one, the better it will be.

When I was a small kid in the 90s I actually preferred going to the arcade instead of playing PC games. But in the end of the 90s and the early 2000s games such as SC, CS, WC3 and D2 started coming out, so I dumped arcade games, by that time the arcade venues were closing anyway.

When you're kid "videogaming" is fun, when you're adult its sickness. Dose it accordingly.
