This is not mainland Greek custom - this is custom imported by refugees after 1922. This is Anatolian - Eastern Greek custom.

Exactly, it reminds me the example of kebab, that nobody in Greece proper ever knew it even as a name before 70's, and suddenly they advertise it as a traditional Greek food

There is no Turkish family without Kurdish ancestry you unibrowed brown rat. Ozal, Ecevit and many other presidents of Turkey had the same mongrelized mix as 99% of Turks.
