I would say no. They take what they like from the West and adjust it to fit their needs. Only on the superficial surface it may appear that they're Western. The Japanese are very hardcore when it comes to their traditions and values. Fortunately for them their values don't conflict with that of the modern world. If anything it helps them strive.

I believe that we (Japan and the west) mutually enjoy a certain amount of cultural exchange and appreciation but Japan is Japan. It is it's own cultural and ethnic entity and completely unique.

Japan 'became Western' in the late 19th century when they realized they needed to adopt the strengths from other cultures and make it their own to be competitive in the world or end up being whiny bitches like yourself living in the shadows of civilization and falling for absurd conspiracies to explain your own failures instead of looking in yourself and asking, "Why does my cultural norms fail so badly compared to cultural norms of other societies that are able to create innovations to put men on the moon and cure diseases that would have wiped out half my family generations ago?"
