Do Foreigners Care More About Albanian Religion than Albanians?

I've noticed a trend, it seems to be foreigners caring a lot more about the religions of Albanians than Albanians themselves.

For example amongst all other peoples they will raise their religion as a sign of identity, whether Christian or Muslim. Albanians appear to be the only ones not doing so, and instead referring to their ethnicity only with a view on religion being a private matter.

Threads on mosques in Albania, Islam in Albania etc, always created by foreigners who for some reason feel frustrated over the current national view of Albanians regarding organized religion.

Are foreigners upset we don't do as they do? Envious of co-religious identity?

Although this is just a forum, it can say a lot about a people's mentality. It seems to be envy behind this because every thread on Albanian religion is implying that Albanians have to be divided by religion, as if they don't feel safe unless Albanians are divided as they are.

Thoughts on this theory?

Në Shqipëri sërish ka filluar debati për figurën e Gjergj Kastriotit Skënderbeut.

Historianët janë ndarë, teksa disa thonë se ka qenë hero i të gjithë shqiptarëve, derisa disa të tjerë thonë se ka luftuar kundër myslimanëve, përcjell albinfo.ch.
Ky debat është zhvilluar në televizionin “News24” mbi islamin dhe Skënderbeun.
Historiani Olsi Jazexhi është shprehur se Skënderbeu ka qenë simbol i krishterimit. “Skënderbeu ka bërë masakra ndaj myslimanëve. Skënderbeu ka qenë një figurë që është pranuar me vështirësi në mesin e shqiptarëve, pasi Skënderbeu është parë si simbol i krishterimit. Skënderbeu në atë kohë ka bërë masakra ndaj myslimaneve që i ngjajnë masakrave të Mlladiq në Bosnjë”, u shpreh historiani Jazexhi, deklaratë që ka shokuar opinionin në Shqipëri.
Historiani dhe akademiku Pëllumb Xhufi deklaroi se Skënderbeu nuk ka qenë përfaqësues i krishterimit dhe kurrsesi xhelat i myslimanëve. “Skënderbeu nuk ka qenë kalorës i krishterimit. Skënderbeu nuk ishte një xhelat i myslimanëve, kur ai erdhi ndezi kryengritjen, pasi në atë kohë nuk kishte mysliman në Shqipëri, popullsia masive ishte e krishterë. Regjistrat e vitit 1431 nuk japin fare mysliman. Në vitin 1533 fillon të zbulohen regjistra mysliman. Fetarisht Skënderbeun është e vështirë ta vendosësh diku, pasi ai edhe në majë të kokës, mbante simbol pagan , nuk ishte kalorës i krishterimit”, u shpreh Xhufi.

Ndërkohë, Imami Armand Aliu ka thënë se Skënderbeu nuk mund të jetë hero i tyre, sepse ai ishte një armik i islamit. “Skënderbeu është armik i myslimanëve. Myslimanët nuk mund të kenë hero të tyre një armik të myslimanit siç ka qenë Skënderbeu”, u shpreh ai.

Debate is always good, as a people our identity has zero to do with religion. Those discussions are nothing and just overblown drama from local abrahamic preachers.

I did not express an opinion on the issue, I merely inserted some news sources which are NOT disputed - though I would agree with you that the likes of Armand Aliu are a small minority among Albanians.

Above all I never claimed that "The Orthodox Albanians are Greek because they are Orthodox". Others play that kind of games...

Let see: there are mosques in Albania. They exist for some reason the reason is that people go to pray there... and according you foreigners care more than own Albanians???
