Beating your children as a parent?

Yeah, this is true. Sometimes when your parents beat you, yell and curse at you etc it feels like they hate you. Atleast thats how I felt it as a kid. But really its because they are miserable themselves and let it go out on their own children or people they love

Yh or it could just be because they didn't know how to discipline the child in any other way, my father had a bad temper and drunk a lot when I was young and only disciplined me through beating me and yelling at me which I think he got off from his father who apparently beat my father till he was 20 lol. My whole fathers side had this aggressive mentality whilst my mothers side were always calmer. Although my father did beat me and fucked up on some things I still respect him as he probably greatly regrets what he does in those stages of anger and all he really wants was me to not be a fuck up and for me to live a good life.

An enfant terrible, huh?! We use the French expression of 'enfant terrible' in English too. 'Little unruly devils'... (... rebellious, unruly and wayward wild-child. ) Unconventional, controversial, and non-conformist people.

The eccentric top British fashion designer John Galliano has been described in the UK media as being the enfant terrible of the fashion industry after he made a serious social blunder and faux-pas in a French restaurant and bar when he yelled anti-semitic rants to some Jewish people who recorded his rant with their mobile phone cameras and uploaded it to YT.

He was drunk on wine and he shouted out in a slurred voice that he 'loves Hitler' and he said at his dinner table to some Jewish people that 'Jews should be put in gas-chambers and all of them should be gassed,'... and he was boycotted by people in the US, slammed in the international media, fired by Christian Dior in France, prosecuted in French legal courts, and was made to publically apologise and pay a fine - as it wasn't the first time he'd made anti-semitic rants.

Also the top British chef Marco Pierre White is dubbed in the national media as being the enfant terrible of the UK restaurant scene. Axl Rose is unpolitically-correct and the enfant terrible of the rock music industry.

Anyway, back OT;- beating a child is child abuse.

Well, I do not believe that corporal punishment is more effective than a firm talking to. However, a large proportion of people my age were probably spanked by our parents, and we have not been scarred by it. So I am constantly exasperated by people who make out that spanking permanently damages children or is the very distillation of evil.

I do not believe that it's a good way to teach discipline, but I believe the message would be much more effective if we tuned down the hyperbole occasionally.

When I was a child it was a normal thing to beat the children, and we grew up healthy and with an innate respect for adults and elders. When I watch today children or youngsters, most of time I see a bunch of annoying and pampered people, with zero respect for their parents or adults, they behave like animals at school and in general because they are sure that no one will punish them; a good kick in the ass or a slap sometimes can be a good thing to straighten your son when you see that he's becoming a pampered dork.

Neither beating nor spanking were parts of my life, so i find anything of this is unacceptable. There are many other ways to correct child's behaviour.
