Some Serbs are really nice

Some do call you "cigan" or something like that, but some are really nice and accepting and welcoming. The flat next door gets restorated and there are a few eastern european workers, one was a serb and my mum told me he asked her "whether we are serbs and he would have concluded that from our surname" my mum said "that we are" and he said "samo tri prsta i nista vise" (only three fingers and nothing else) and my mum cook him a coffee.

So according to your logic if someone call Gypsies ''Cigani'' he is pure evil? Even Gypsies among themselves calling themselves ''Cigani''.

If you look at any book from Serbian ethnologists (for example Cvijic and Erdeljanovic) you will see that therm ''Cigani'' is much older than nazism or any same ideology.

Simply, it's people word for Gypsies and no one and especially liberals and other political-corectness fascists can not change that therm in people minds.

Personally I will always call Gypsies ''Cigani'' but I don't have any personal problem with any of them.

Not just if they call them "cigan" depends on how they say it obviously if they talk about something and say it neutral then not, but people do use it in a negative way, like "ti cigan jedan" if they want to insult you. thats what i meant.

not its like someone calling you spic or beaner, well not exactly the same but similar, because cigan is often used very heavily negative loaded and full of hate, the expression is often meant hateful like "you gypsy"

cigan is heavily loaded, it is not a racial slur per se, but heavily negative connotated and controversially used, it has lots of negative power, people who are upset say "cigan" to someone. its often used like that even to people who are not roma. why do albanians and serbs call eatch other gypsies or cigani?
