Default Region or city of your country with the most correct accent

I would like to know the opinion of the members about the region or city of their country that is considered to have the most correct accent.

Important: It's about the most correct accent (even if it's spoken just by a minority) not about the most common or the most spoken on the TV/media etc.

For example in my country the most correct accent is considered to be from Coimbra (historically the universitary center of Portugal), while the most common are the Lisbon accent (some differences from the Coimbra one) and some northern accents.

The standard accent is the one from São Paulo. The most correct, well, there are some places in Rio Grande do Sul (not the whole state) which they have a very correct portuguese, using the second person for verbs correctly; the rest of the country basically just use first and third person.

    Interesting question.

The most "correct" accent in America is what's called a neutral accent or general American accent, which is typical in most of New England, the Mid-Atlantic coast, and the west coast. If you go inland at all from the east or west, you'll hear all different kinds of accents. Midwestern and Southern accents are the most widespread, and they are very diverse in themselves.

Northerners and Southerners joke on each other's accents a lot, both deeming the other to sound "trashy" and "uneducated". Such negative opinions are compounded by the influx of immigrants who have added new vocabulary and extra racism into the American social experience.

While I was in Santa Catarina I noticed that some people also use the second person correctly and their accent is somewhat neutral (more similar to european portuguese) compared to other regions.

Is the accent of these journalists a close example of what you are refering to?

I noticed that americans (including those who speak with the general american accent) tend to nasalate alot the sounds wich end up sounding kind of corny, while some new englanders speak with an accent that I find more elegant and more similar to european english and much less nasalated, the actress Blythe Danner is a good example:

Also Orson Welles is another example to ilustrate my point, his accent also differs from that nasalated general american accent:

In Spain: The Castilian-leones accents, I guess.

In Venezuela: the accent of the middle/upper-middle class Venezuelans from Caracas, and other Venezuelan main cities.

And if we go by regional accent (regardless of social class), perhaps the Venezuelan Andean accent that is very similar to the Andean Colombian accents from the Oriental mountain range (cordillera oriental) of Colombia, being the case that the Colombian Andean accents are rated among the best Castilian-Spanish accents in the Spanish speaking world.

If you mean the closest to standard language, I think it's Dubrovnik. But none is the most correct, all of them are correct for their region.

Thanks friend. By Castillian Leonese I presume Castillian from Salamanca wich like Coimbra in Portugal was historically the universitary center of Spain.

Can you post a couple of videos (of Venezuela and Castilla) as examples ?

But there isn't one that is dominant and considered more correct among the intelectuals, literary figures etc ?
