But surely Sao Paulo's accent is also considerable, if youre from São Paulo the tv doesnt make you change your accent to sound like someone from Rio de janeiro. In the media, the actors got to speak just like people from Rio de janeiro or São paulo. Rio Grande do Sul standard where? The famous people from Rio grande take classes to learn to speak like people from Rio or São Paulo.

Carioca accent can be very beautiful and melodic, like a mix of melodic Portuguese with French, when softly and well spoken but it's certainly not considered the most correct accent in Brazil. It's the official accent of TV Globo tough.

They use a Carioca or São Paulo accent in dubbed films. And in the media people are forced to talk like us. The accent of the southern region of Brazil is not desired by any ways of communications/media. But yes, in the south people conjugate the better verbs than here in Rio, but those who do it with higher priority are the people of Amazonas. There are a novela about them and I was looking for the differences:
Rio says " Você viu?" People from Manaus is like " Tu viste?"

I've never heard that. Anyway it's not about the most approximate with archaic Portuguese (wich naturally the northern accents are closer since they are more similar to Galician-Portuguese) because the Portuguese language took its own path and evolution, it's about the considered most correct for classic, modern and literary standards. I don't think that anyone finds that changing the v's by the b's and so many other exagerated pecularities of northern accents are taken as an example of correctness, it's actually perceived as a sign of under education, the northern elites have a much softer northern accent or even neutral.

I've always heard that it's the accent from Coimbra, wich is fairly similar to standard Lisbon Portuguese but with some particularities of being more correct in the pronunciation of the vowels (wich the Lisbon accent tends to open too much) and of some consonants like the double r or double r, eat less letters etc...

Yes, I've always heard that the accent from Coimbra is the most correct and accurate as well, probably because of its geographical position which makes the transition from the accents of north, center and south of Portugal. However, my opinion on this issue has changed after reading and hearing some scholars opinions on this matter. I will try to find a source and I will send it to you.

Deviant accents from the standard accent unfortunately in Portugal have often been stigmatized as being non-educated but that's a silly discrimination that endangers the ethno-cultural diversities of our regions.
