Now I know my magyarized surname is definitely Germanic and it has Bavarian/South German origins. I have nothing in common with Czech identity.

How did you find that out? I'm struggling finding anything out about mine and I suspect they're not hungarian originally but magyarized too lol

1/4 of my ancestry was completely clear: Danube Swabian with Swiss and Austrian origins, I have their printed family tree.
Until know I wasn't completely sure about my other 1/4 Danube Swabian: mostly German surnames in their family tree too, but our surname has a strange magyarized form long time ago.
Now I restarted my search a bit, and I found the original form of my surname in someone else's family document on the web. They are from the same village, even the same street. However the surname origin is not a surprise: both of my grandfather and siblings did a lot to preserve the local German heritage of the village.

Ah I see.... I tried doing that too but most things are in hungarian and I don't know hungarian so it's even harder lol bc both my moms and my dads surnames are very uncommon and apparently dont make much sense in hungarian... All I know is that my mom's seems to mean Dad in german lol but idk if it was written differently or smth and if it's even related...

My family were never interested in ancestry and stuff so I have 0 records lmao

My surname is a place name, it's a Hungarian city. However my grandfather legally changed the spelling to make it seem more American. Still, nobody pronounces it correctly.

All the other Hungarian names in my family tree are more common ones I think. Toth, Katona, etc.
