There are a lot of Native North Americans on GEDmatch and many them are 100% Native.

Even I was surprised that I found so many pure Amerindians from the USA and Canada.

As for the number of Native Americans in the USA, here is census data:

However, to estimate their genetics I need to have data showing how many of them reported only Native American ancestry / Amerindian race, and how many reported mixed ancestries / mixed race. So far on GEDmatch I found almost 140 Native North Americans (excluding Inuits), of whom about 65 are unmixed (on average 91% Amerindian) and about 70 are mixed (on average 47% Amerindian).

Pure Amerindians in North America are more common than people think.

In Canada we still have lots of pure Amerindians, in fact more so than U.S. The Inuit are also very pure but they are not truly Amerindian as the seem to have more of true Mongoloid look and genetics

I was using mainly "People who match one or both of 2 kits" option when looking for them.

And they share large / long segments usually with other Native North Americans.

But they also share smaller / shorter segments with Latinos (and with mostly White Muricans).

Litvin, do you happen to know what the pre-Columbian (and Viking etc.) Amerindian R1b is? There have been plenty of auburn haired mummies found for example, so it should be no surprise - I just want to know the subclade
