    Post Arabian Paganism

Hello. In this thread we will discuss about ancient Arabian deities, religion and history to some extent. I can also answer your questions about Ancient Arabian religion (i'm recently interested in it, started to read about it 2 months ago).

As far as every Muslim knows, ancient Arabs worshipped idols that were made from stones and wood. Here are some surviving idols

Most idols were in Mecca, Kaaba. However, some idols could be found all throughout all Arabia; from Yemen to Jordan. Arabs used to visit some of those idols to venerate them.

Main gods actually varied from tribe to tribe. For example, Arabs of Dumat Al Jandal had a chief god called Wadd and Wadd was god of water. Which actually makes sense because Dumat Al Jandal was located next to a lake. And Quraish had Hubal, the moon god, as the chief god.

Yes that's true, but the Goddess trinity was the most supreme in Arabian paganism, as they were creators of force. However some Judeo-Christian influence entered some of the tribes especially those in the Hejaz, but those in the interior remained isolated from it, especially in the Northern Arabia.

there's no philosophy actually. it's just a primitive religion with no sophisticated mythology etc. most of the gods were actually from other places. for example according to the Islamic tradition an Arab who went to Iraq brought the Idol Hubal with him to Mecca. And Hubal is actually Ba'al soo...
