You should be more precise about what you mean with Italian
Sicilian,Apulian,Calabrian,Central Italian....
Also when you talk about Northern influence.
Its never possible that Northern Italy is less Northern than Greece..
There was much bigger influx of Germanic and Gothic tribes in Northern Italy from the late Roman times and thereafter than there ever was in Greece.
This is well known and supported by historical evidence and toponyms and so on.
Whole regions in Northern Italy have names such as Longobarda or Lambardia.
Compared with Greece i would concur with that the Northern inputs are more distributed all over Greece whereas in Italy they are much more present in the North and at most till the Central Mainland and there after further South become much lesser.
That is to say there is a bigger gap between North and South Italy considering Northern influence than between Northern and Southern Greece.
