That's because they're ethnic Macedonian villages, not Bulgarian

The villages are Bulgarian because the people themselves define themselves as such. Like most of the citizens of Northern Macedonia, they are Bulgarians by origin, and what is defined today for genetics is not important

The sample size is too small to reach any meaningful conclusion, if they test another 60 or so males we can start analyzing results.

[QUOTE = safinator; 6963855] Размерът на пробата е твърде малък, за да се стигне до някакво смислено заключение, ако тестват още 60 или повече мъже, можем да започнем да анализираме резултатите. [/ QUOTE]

Golloborda are a mix of Albanians and Bulgarians AFAIK. Many of those J2b2 and others are definitely Albanian in origin or Vlach. While others are clearly assimilated Bulgarians. I noticed high R1a and I2a in the Albanian speaking area. They must be assimilated Slavs.

R1b seems pretty common in Kosovo based on those results. Even more than EV-13 overall.

You're both wrong. The R1a in Golloborde mostly belongs to the western most area and to an Albanian cluster of L1029(Y133383) which has no matches in Bulgarians or North Macedonians or any outside Albanians. Most of the basal are Albanian from Kruja(origin Dibra) Verbjan, and Kercove. It bottlenecked in Golloborde. So far 7 Albanian families from the project are in the cluster. Including potentially another 7 or so from studies that were scattered among Gheg and Tosk.

Imagine some will pop up but its not very common. Some study samples missing a defining STR of L1029 may be close to the cluster though unconfirmed. This includes a Romanian from Calarsi, a Bulgarian from Razgrad and Burgas, a Croatian, a East Ukrainian, a Serb from Sumadija, a Macedonian,, and 7 or so Albanians, 2 of which were from Macedonia. Though the str defining L1029 wasnt tested so we can't know for sure if they are actually L1029. Of the study samples that may match the cluster, the Albanian samples match the other Albanians in the studies and in the project,, with fewer differences. More differences with neighbors which could fall anywhere between 1200-2100ybp.

This is long before Bulgarian or North Macedonian identities were noted. It could have arrived with the early tribes like Berziti or Vajuniti. Maybe Draguviti or Bulgars arrival.

Theres a couple undefined L1029 so they can be in any cluster. And a couple Z280 in the eastern parts.

The villages where Y133383 is elevated are in the western region which aren't typically considered Golloborda today and they do not identify as Bulgarian or Macedonian. It is an Albanian speaking village only. One section if which borders Martanesh and is very remote. Maybe in the early medieval it was different. The Eastern villages are bilingual and they don't have any instances of the aforementioned cluster yet, outside one general undefined L1029 and the 2 Z280.

Overall the region is very diverse in J2b-L283 and E-V13. Top 3 being J2b-L283/R1a-M417/E-V13.

Alot of these villages are sparsely populated today. Most have left. Theres more on the way. Still another 12 to bring the total to 40+ or so for the region. More samples are being collected for Kostenje, Okshtun, Oreshnje, Prodan and Moglice.

Also some 22 samples for Macedonia. Which will cover Manastir, Oher, Struga, Dibra Madhe, Kercove and upper Reka if we have any luck. So far one upper reka sample from Verbjan matches the L1029 cluster Y133383 in Okshtun.

The Albanian haplotype of L1029 previously labeled Y133383, common in Dibra has now been added to the tree. The other sample is from Kruja. TMRCA 1250ybp between them. Another Albanian sample belonging to this branch may push the TMRCA to 1300-1400ybp as he's projected to be further from the 2. He is currently sequencing.
