What is YOUR definition of the "Third World" or a "Third World Country"?
for example: no running water; poor city infrastructure; disease ridden living on $1 a day; etc .....or something else? explain in your own terms...

A third world country by definition is a country which wasn't aligned with NATO or Communism

Its meaning changed, nowadays it's just a synonym for poor countries in Asia, Africa etc. How poor does one need to be to qualify as third wirld, that I dont know.Originally Posted by Kelmendasi

As strange as it sounds, Sweden, Finland, Austria and Switzerland were Third World countries in '75 because they were neutral..
I think Yugoslavia remained 'Third World' till the end of the cold war, but no one would call them Thirdworld today because they aren't african level poor.
