No, gypsies are hated because of their historically bad reputation in Europe. They are clearly differentiated from India by most people I think.

Dont know where you read your news but India is hardly praised or looked at in a positive light by majority of western newspapers or in the eyes of the western population. Most people in the west think of India as the rape capital of the world due to biased representation and misleading statistics.

Muslims are defended all the time in our news in europe, meanwhile most europeans dont know much about indians and we are relatively few here so nobody cares if someone insults indians, and liberals dont really like us since we dont fit their victimhood narrative due to our economical success all over the world unlike women, blacks and muslims who are all protected since they are overall perceived as victims.

Actually its mostly jealousy because Indians I have to admit are a bit arrogant at times due to their economic and academic success in the West. Also, when the owner or manager is a brown skinned Indian guy and you're White or Asian obviously you'll hold some resentment towards us.

It's because of the West has interaction with the Middle East more so, and plus the political propaganda in the Western media which often shows the most negative aspect of Middle Eastern culture, that what it really boils down to. That said the West and the Arab world have interacted for a very long time in some ways for example Arabs ruled various parts of Europe before, well Europeans colonized parts of the Arab world, the only successful direct colonization was that of the Portuguese which then were defeated and even parts of their empire was conquered by us. Well the British would do indirect control in Arabia, due to the fact no power could really subdue the Arabian tribes without committing genocide. So due to closer geographic proximity and somewhat tied history is the reason why, well South Asia is relatively far. Another reason Middle Easterners don't integrate or assimilate well, and if they do assimilate they are often cut off from their own communities, this does not sit well with many Europeans, but South Asians some how do so, and if they integrate it's only partial and not full. It also goes back to European-Arab rivalry for more than 1400's.

I never heard them praise India. Can you give me example? The only thing I read was that its the worlds largest democracy which is true fact. But the newspapers and media do report what bad things are happening in india. You can google about rape, murder, open defecation etc. in india.

India's rape epidemic is blown out of proportion, the country is half the size of the USA geographically with 4 times the population, obviously you'll hear of more rapes. And there is a huge male to female ratio.

Also, Middle Easternerers execute their murderers, rapists and drug dealers (as does China) and they do it publicly.

India does not.

When I said that they get a "free pass", I meant that they often get praised by western politicians and ignoring the bad things that are happening in India which is true for countries like Saudi Arabia and whatnot. South Asians as a whole often get discriminated against in the western world by the overall western populace which is true for MENA groups as well.

As a whole, South Asia is doing far better and is more impressive than any MENA country in modern times so it makes sense India gets more praise than them. Overall though the coverage of Indian news is mostly negative in the west.

True you can do yoga and still hate India. Though I think most people who practice yoga wouldnt. I don't think people are exposed enough to India to really make a big judgment overall, nor do they care enough to.

They dont care because the west is trying its best to show India as a "non-threat" and as said there is very little exposure overall. Eventually as the indian economy grows and the western economy drops, people there will start to care, because we will be influential in all major parts of the world.
