Depends on lands. Southern Germans (Swabians, Bavarians, Franconians), while having Gaulish and Huguenot blood, closer to South French and Northern Italians. Lower Saxons and Westphalians are purer Germanics closer to Dutch, English and Scandinavians. Eastern Germans (former Prussia, Mecklenburg and Saxony) has large amount of Slavic blood and closer to Poles and Czechs. But culturally Germany clearly is a part of Western Europe because cultural influences came mainly from France (Roman empire, Charlemagne's conquest, French Enlightenment and Napoleon's reforms).
