This is a serious question that I would like to debate.
Economic issues
US actually still has more government-owned industries/companies than the UK does - utilities, railways and airports are usually owned by either the federal, state or local governments in the US, whereas in the UK those things have generally been privatised.
Taxes in the US are generally lower than in the UK. So too are levels of welfare.
State healthcare in the US doesn't really exist as such. Private education is also probably more widespread in the US than the UK.
Social issues
My impression is the US has more extremes than the UK - basically, more people who are vehemently pro-gay and pro-immigration/multiracialism, as well as more people who are vehemently anti-gay and anti-immigration/multiracialism. By contrast, the UK has a lot more people who are centrist, neutral or indifferent to such issues.
So, which country is generally more right-wing?
