It's a great city to visit,not so great to live in.

I'm studying here for 4 years and counting and I'm very sick of it.

The roads in some parts are terrible,potholes that can swallow your whole car

Cool. Wog girls are pretty and can cook pretty nice woggish dishes.

Been there few times - very Half Bulgarian-Half Greek aura about it. Not trying to claim it just saying out of all the Bulgarian cities Plovdiv is the one we like visiting the most.

It is probably the most visited by tourists town in Bulgaria, on the central street one can more often hear foreign than Bulgarian speech.

You are right it does get alot of tourists - alot of the good ones too. It is not a coastal city which makes it even more amazing but has its own charisma - nice city.

how is job market in Plovdiv? I understand many Bulgarians return now from the West and some settle in Plovdiv and there's jobs.

Numbeo shows average net salary in Plovdiv to be 800 euro/month now, which is very good for the Balkans, it ranks among the top 10 Balkan cities in terms of wages I think.

city probably improved a lot since Linebacker's comment over the streets as well. I plan to visit it next year if my wife agrees being far from the seaside makes it harder to reach for us but I really wanna see it

Currently big parts of the city's roads are being reconstructed and traffic jams are hell. Small streets in neighborhoods are same trash as back then. But for visiting is good, provided you go a lot by foot.

Yes, there are lots of newcomers in recent years, most work low paid jobs though. Standard of living is far from Sofia.
