Assad is not hero far from it. However at least he is trying to rebuild the destruction he himself created. Although it is said that the Assad family does this every 15 years, the civil wars.

He didn't create the destruction, the Saudi financed terrorists did.

    The good guys won.

Jews not happy that no more refugees will be flooding Europe.

Wrong information, the media demonizes Saudi Arabia to much. It was him plain and simple. I will explain.

Syria is very multiethnic nation, similar to Iraq, that it has Arabs, Kurds, Turkmens, Assyrians, Circassians, ect. Syria is also multi-religious nation, with Sunnis being the dominant majority, the Alawites a minority that rules, with Christians being their sidekicks. The Sunni majority had long been oppressed and not fairly represented in the political process in Syria. To make matters worse, there was drought that brought all Syrians to protest against the Assad regime. The farmers and herders were very oppressed and wanted employment. So the protest were originally peaceful, and these people wanted more representation in the government. What happens is that the Syrian secret police begins to kill and imprison, the Protestors, who btw had all groups of people being against him. Thus in 2013, he Assad created divide and conquer tactics, which has teared the country apart and it became a sectarian proxy civil war, but it's not simple because the Anglo-American Iraqi war, had it's effect in destabilizing Syria. Not to mention this is also a class struggle, upper or rich class Sunni Syrians aide Assad, but the poor don't.

Iran has supplied Assad with Shia militas from Iran, Afghanistan, and so on. Saudi Arabia's influence is minimal at best, and the Sunni forces were and are supported by Turkey. Assad however enflamed his country and Syrians here have the out most hate for him because they say he is the one who brought hell unto them, and I agree.

The MSM is far more anti-Assad than anti-Saudi. Some of the protests in the beginning were legitimate but the "civil war" was soon infiltrated by radical jihadists financed by the Saudis, who never existed before in Syrian society. They caused great suffering for years. It's time for peace.

Saudi Arabia, came much later, and the reason it only entered in the civil war, because Iran's Mullahs and Hezbollah were the ones who had made it into sectarian fight. Saudi Arabia thus want to be regional power and played the proxies, however Turkey's role is very big and it's the true and main rival of Iran in the Mideast. Since the inception of the civil war it was Turkey that has given the largest aide.

Well I agree, I am saying Assad is no angel, and the Saudis are no demons. So far the Saudis are helping rebuilding Iraq, although they are genetically and culturally closer to us than they are to Syrians admittingly

I'd much rather see Syria ruled by a logical authoritarian like Assad, than a bunch of medieval psychos burning people alive in cages and beheading children which would be what would've happened if the Saudis had gotten their way.

Not at all, Saudi Arabia does not care about Syria's internal politics, nor is Saudi Arabia is like that, it has become modernized nation, since the rise of King Abdullah and if Mohammed Bin Salman comes to power it will even more move forward, what you describe is how the Anglo-Americans made Iraq after 2003, which was modern nation and regressed. Saudi Arabia like I have said came much later into the conflict and no way they want such regression which is threat to themsleves. Who started the conflict it was him Assad and he is the one to blame for the all mayhem in the region. Saudi Arabia just wants to lesson Iran's influence. Yes Iran's mullahs are not medieval psychos who do pretty disgusting things to children like hitting them with the sword on A'shura festival, mistreat women, oppress Sunnis and Ba'hais? Assad has brutalized the people, if he wants to stay he should apologize for what he did, and should be more inclusive and does not base his political process on minority nepotism.

But..Washington Forbids Serbia From De-Mining Syria
    By Daniel McAdams

This may be one of the cruelest and most cynical moves of Washington in its entire dark “regime change Syria” chapter. Serbian media sources are reporting, based on quotes from US Embassy Belgrade personnel, that the United States has sought and been given assurances by the Serbian government and military that Serbian de-mining experts will not be deploying to Syria to assist in removing the ubiquitous horrific mines and other explosive devices left behind by a retreating ISIS.

As the rout of ISIS forces continues in Syria, the civilian population begins returning to their homes and their lives that had been disrupted by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, and other extremist groups. According to the United Nations, more than 600,000 Syrians have returned to areas liberated by the Syrian government with the assistance of Russia and Iranian forces.

But that is where the tragic problems often begin. As the Economist reported earlier this year, the joy of returning to a life where the scourge of ISIS has been eliminated can be cut short in an instant by what ISIS leaves behind:

‘The first explosion killed our neighbour and his sister-in-law when they entered their house,’ said Ali Hussain Omari, a former fighter from the city. ‘Three days later another mine killed my cousin. His 11-year-old daughter’s leg was amputated and their house was destroyed. A week later another mine in an olive tree exploded. My neighbour lost his leg.’

What a horrible irony to have survived the marauding jihadists only to be blown to pieces by the terrors they left behind.

Which is why it is all the more disturbing that the United States government is so adamant that US-trained Serbian de-mining experts NOT deploy to Syria to help make post-ISIS Syria safe for civilians to return.
