Achilles, Hercules, Aspasia, and so on were all allegedly described as 'blonde' or 'red-haired' if you take Xanthus (or Xanth- whatever) to always mean blonde. We have paintings of all of them and they all have brown hair.

If art contradicts these apparent descriptions then there's room to assume that the word doesn't mean blonde. Or that it at least has multiple meanings.

We already have the genetic results on the more earlier Greeks from the Bronze age period, and yes, they were not even remotely Nordic whatsoever. Most likely that they wouldn't have looked any differently from their modern day counterparts.
