A typical Dutch way to get plastered: a kopstootje (lit. a headbutt - the -je is a diminutive): first finish the shot of jenever (basically the Dutch daddy of English gin) in one go and then you "blush" the fiery feeling with a glass of beer. There is also a different, milder, version known as an u-bootje or duikbootje (lit. little submarine) where the glass of jenever is placed inside the beer glass where you first drink some of the beer until the glass of jenever empties itself in your mouth.

Natural monuments of Sardinia : Rock of the Elephant

The Rock of the Elephant is a rock made of trachyte, an igneous volcanic rock, situated near Castelsardo in the north of Sardinia, its peculiar shape that looks like an Elephant attracts thousands of tourists that stop their cars along the road to take pictures. Another peculiarity of this rock is that at its base there is a "Domus de Janas" (house of fairies), a prehistoric tomb carved into the rock by ancient Sardinians, from 3200 to 2800 b.C. Thousands of these ancient tombs are present throughout the Sardinian territory, but mostly in the northwestern and central areas of the island.

What a beautiful and elegant design. It's so sad that your national and culturally unique Dutch currency has been eradicated and replaced by the soulless euro. It's like removing part of the Dutch national cultural identity and traditional cultural heritage.

I saw a sad video on YT in 2010 showing elderly French people who'd saved and preserved their historic Franc currency banknotes and coins. They were taking their francs to be traded in for euros and I felt very sad seeing it. The government had urged people to get rid of their carefully preserved francs by trading their traditional banknotes and coins in exchange for soulless euros.

I also saw a news video from Spain in 2011 which showed the people in Salvaterra in Galicia had resurrected their national peseta currency in the region after falling on financially difficult times with the euro.
