i was referring to america and western europe, for this discussion i'll just use america as an example. and this has nothing to do with how many kids a couple has but whether it was born in or out of wedlock, or during teen years or not, and whether the couple will be able to support the child before having it.

in america the teen birth rate in 2015 was 21 per 1000 ppl, vs 7 per 1000 ppl in china. in many african countries where the population is very religious it is sky high at over 100. violent crime rates are also higher in america than in east asia which is mostly secular (nothing special about east asia just using it as an example). the idea that only religion can lead to moral behavior doesn't hold water. 21 per 1000 people may not actually be that high, but it has been decreasing over past years, in past decades it was much higher.
