I was kinda surprised to see Portugal in that spot of map to be honest. Would expect germans and frenches
Anyway former soviet repiblics is soviet legacy, Bulgaria is most likely pensioners moving to cheap country with warmer climat. In short modern Russia is very selforiented and peaceful

So why do you stay there? If you are more on the conservative side, it seems the USA under Trump would be a better place for you to live. BTW, I've heard that it is actually not so easy to immigrate to Canada and it is just a myth that you welcome everyone.
