2/10. But my reading comprehension skills would be a solid 9.

I haven't done any serious academic writing in a while. I used to make good grades on my papers so I'd say an 8/10.

My TA-level writing, riddled with guilty pleasures like cliches, adverbs, hyphenated words, semicolons, LOLs and HEHEs -- a good 3/10, if that.

I believe many people speak vs write vs read vs listen differently in each said task.

I can read social-science material much more efficiently than fictional novels for instance. And write a little better than I speak.

There is a reason for this.

Prose varies widely in style but academic writing does not. Some fiction is difficult to read, and it's not the fault of the reader...
Perhaps try a different genre of fiction where the writing conventions are different.

Certain writers' styles I felt more comfortable with reading...for instance under the Horror genre I had a bigger appreciation for Edgar Allan Poe's writing style over Stephen King's. I enjoyed Stephen King's movie adaptations but his writing doesn't seem to flow nearly as well as Poe's for my tastes.
