Oh sorry I think I prejudged you. I apologize. But that is because of the general behavior of Turks towards my thoughts on this forum for years.

I haven't seen his interview in Turkish media. But you can watch the video via the link I provided. They speak English but it's understandable. He said 2 days ago in USA btw.

Most of them always wanted to join but nowadays people are tired of wanting this and lost hope.

50-50, The government wants more.

And, Western part of Turkey almost completely european except people who migrated from the east. (especially thrace, aegean, marmara region.) On the other hand, people who living in eastern part of Turkey is asiatic.

Just accept your origins, there's nothing bad about not being European.

Some Turks do, secularized once especially. Politicians want it more. Religious/Conservative ones mostly oppose it, calling it "A Christian union".
