Oh, come on, always were. In small amounts, but still.
Some sellswords aso, but also is possible, that this
iberian branch is from some scottish settlers in Iberia,
or that it has source in lugians as you once suggested.
Surname is irrelevant here, especially, if you have a
confirmation "only" from the beginning of XIXth century.
When you will watch "The 1612", then you will understand
Do you genealogy as far as you can.I begin to think that I'm descended from leftovers who stayed behind while others migrated to Iberia. I still have Scottish matches based on 37 STRs, but these can be false matches, unless these Scots are also positive for these Iberian SNPs.
Otherwise, most of your guessings will be just guessings.
Who know, maybe just one or two ancestors back will make everything clear?
Until you do not know them and you did not confirm your own result with other
relatives, there really is no sense in deliberating this. Imagine, if I would have
only my own result and zero history and genealogy. My speculations would be
180 degree different and wrong per definitionem. The difference is huge. You
do not even know, if your result is correct one. You don;t know also, when,
who and where did started to use the name as such, and what was before.
Without every possible information which you can get it has really no sense,
becasue it will be always only speculations. In CEN project we have so many
examples and confirmations, that I know what I am saying. It is like day and night.
