    Could be much older since it's the X chromosome. Consider that you may have inherited the E.     Look at my and my maternal grandmother's X chromosomes:

    The N.European and Broadly European stem directly from my Danish great-grandmother.

    A significant part of Ashkenazi mtDNA belongs to European, Non-Semitic lineages.

    Perhaps due to conversions of Slavic women to Judaism and mixed marriages.

    See my other reply about recency. Your E. European could easily be a few centuries old. I gave it a bit of thought over the night, and would suggest looking for Subbotnik surnames in your tree and among your DNA relatives.
