Asia is huge continent.... I think in 21 century.. I think we have to identify people correctly..


Desi Indians ( India, Pakistan) .. and middle east.



North Far eastern Orient ( Japan, Korean, Chinese, north of Vietnam) .. north east asia.



Indo-Pacific ( thai, Filipino, Malay-Indonesian, 50% of Vietnamese) ... the sea marine nations.




pacific islanders. ( hawaiin, samoan, Polynesia, Micronesia etc)... the rock's race..

Middle east should not be lumped together with desi people/south asians, it seemed like you implied that in the OP. Just saying though, overall i agree with your premise.

It's interesting how Asian was originally used to refer to West Asians but now it usually refers to East Asians (or South Asians sometimes). Also, the word African originally only referred to North Africans but then Sub-Saharans (Blacks) stole the name for themselves and now it generally means Black.

I agree with this post, but don't lump Central Asia and West Asia with South Asia as one monolithic "Brown people" group if you are going to divide the Far East into two regions.

It's interesting how Asian was originally used to refer to West Asians but now it usually refers to East Asians (or South Asians sometimes). Also, the word African originally only referred to North Africans but then Sub-Saharans (Blacks) stole the name for themselves and now it generally means Black.

In general yeah, South Asians and NE and SE Asians are very different. I would say there is way more commonality between NE and SE Asians though, also, Viets are culturally more within the NE Asian group, although they are generally SE Asian.
