Actually I did suggest that she look at Portugal, and she has a Portuguese acquaintance who offered to take her there, but she's a tard so she didn't listen.

Mary here is the reality check, DO keep in mind that the prices are inflated and can ALWAYS be negotiated. Also: yes, some agents hike the price by a lot, hoping to find a gullible tourist from Russia and make insane profit. It rarely works, but as your mom's example had shown: sometimes it does

do take a look here, yes some places are ugly but when u start looking at those at 70k+ you will see many similar places which are much closer to the sea as well

If your mother paid that much € for this small apartment which isnt that close to the sea then your mom is either very gullible and hasnt studied the market AT ALL or Im sorry to say it, shes challenged. This place is worth 100k less than you say that she paid.

Wanna see one of my parents apartments which they paid 60k plus the fees for? 90m2, right near the beach.. 3 bedrooms.
    1) I believe you. She bought it on a whim. She wanted to buy a flat in a gated community first but the build quality was really bad so she searched the Internet until she found this instead.

    2) Of course she's challenged, she's a woman.

    3) Dude I don't care. I don't plan to go there.

I sell jewelry for a living, so in my business its logical to trick women, many of whom begin to lubricate in different places at the sight of sparking diamonds, but I never knew that this could go beyond jewelry..

I believe you. It makes no difference to me personally since I'm not the one who will have to deal with it.

Not all women have it for jewelry. My mom has it for trips and multiple homes. Would you believe me if I told you that she pays $10k for a three week "luxury trip" to Thailand every year? You could live very good in Thailand for a year on that money. And she's not the only fool, there are plenty of them over there from all across the world.

Im not dumb enough to say that "all" the women have it for jewelry, noway; but those who have it, they are mostly addicted to the point of losing control over themselves, some of my clients are "very" special...

Don't make me laugh, those groups barely pay any kind of taxes, they take much more from the state/real tax payers than what they give back.

Dont say stupidities, what jobs do old people create?
Is not that they directly create jobs since they don't come to open business but indirectly they keep alot of jobs in services / commerce/ restaurants / construction etc by spending their pensions on the local enonomy and buying property, come on man you know that's the case in many cities along the mediterranean coast.

You seem to forget that old people, specially here in Spain where we have one of the best health system of the world, need constantly medical attention, one of the most expensive things in the life.
That might be a problem if they abuse it, do you have any statistic on that?

Agreed, you should fight to that Balkanites and other Europeans go to Portugal to live forever and ever

I told you before, I view selective immigration as something positive, those european expats/retirees have a very positive impact on the local economy and don't create any trouble.
