    Possible...

Finns accepted most of Germanic, but also Balto-Slavic characteristics.. So that's one of the reason why are they different from other their relatives by culture, linguistic but ancient beliefs as well.

A 16-century construct or an remnant of germanic paganism... how do you want to have it?

Regard Nordic religion..: No religious doctrine has survived, all that remains is random and inadequate obscure hints in ICELAND poems and sagas...
I m searching historical proofs ( no books written 100 years ago in Iceland ) of Asatru religion or Odinism. There is nothing... there are some oral legends ( not very old and not equal each other) spread around North europe.. The only reliable sources of Asatru religion are Tacitus and Caesar and few Christians (IRISH) Monk writtings ..In these writting there is no mention about Odin or other nordic gods.. Tacitus said that barbarian Germans worshipped tree - animals - river... NO MENTION TO THOR ODIN...
Of course i don't consider Marvel Comics as reliable sources..

indeed it's a collective hallucination by the saamis chamans (amanita muscaria mushrooms) who saw in the sky an old dude on a sledge with a bunch of reindeers/mooses centuries years ago before christianism, it's a pure pagan character cope by the christians and later by CoCa ,indeed you have father christmas and his evil side krampus, another pagan god,but the red and white is coming from the color of the amanita muscaria who gave psychotrops properties
indeed it's quite variable from a country from an other but father christmas is definetly not santa klaus, i know i named nicolas (whithout the H please) and my event is the december 6
don't eat it at any case it's highly neurotoxic ! it's rarely deadly but you will be ill like hell even falling in coma,it's POISON!

I think that few people here really understand what was the "innovation" of Christianity.
There were religions in any place on earth before Jesus.....but only Jesus ( who is God ) became man among men,.... Jesus became flesh a real man and a real God.
