Regarding liberalism it most definitely has several variants (politically, socially, and economy).

Liberalism has actually been strong in the West for 200 years. It got dominance after WW2 with the final establishment of the "Liberal Rule Based Order" (free markets, liberal democracy, American rule). With the removal of the monarchs, the end of Austria-Hungary and Russian Empire.

There are older forms of liberalism (classical, national, and perhaps radicalism). Newer manifestitations like social liberalism/social democracy and neoliberalism.
Also most modern conservative parties are liberal or partly liberal. It may not seem so to social liberals but its still the truth.

Even Christian Democracy, and Progressive-Liberal -One nation types of conservativism seem to have become opportunists and merged or adopted into the liberal system.
