Question What is your opinion of the banned "Refah Partisi" "Welfare Party"?

I just read a bit about politics and sharia in turkey and stumbled upon this article from wikipedia:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welfare_Party
https://web.archive.org/web/20171204.../Welfare_Party (alternative archived link, if wikipedia is blocked/it got changed over time)

So I wonder a lot about how this party is seen in turkey and what is your attitude to it?
Also, was the military intervention in 1997 justified?

    ----------

AKP originated in that party but they changed their "shirts" later to become the ruling party. I don't think it was because of sharia it was because Necmettin Erbakan was doing some good things for his people and country. It was a coup so not really something democratic.

Refah Party continues as Saadet Party today which is not still a competent with AKP being a central party with more luck than them.
