and why wouldnt indoeuropean derived pagan religions considered indigenous?

Yeah Basque might be older, but even before Basque you probably had another culture and before even the first homo sapiens you had Neanderthals and before them Homo Erectus. Why are Indo Europeans not considered indigenous by you? surprises me

All of European Paganism developed within the context of Europe at the time, regardless of the root originating from the Indo-European homeland, which likely is the Pontic Steppe. I don't think it can be called non-European.

Likewise, Hinduism in South Asia can only be understood in the context of that culture even though it's roots are the same as European Paganism.

It seems people think the history of Europe starts with the arrival of the agriculturalists (Gimbuta’s "Old Europe") or with the Indo-Europeans, but I think we need to go way back.

I find the talks by Andrew Collins fascinating:

Just how much was the earliest form of ‘Shamanism’ (applied animism) practiced by the hunter-gatherers of the Mammoth Steppe influenced or a mix of or a continuation of Denisovan and Neanderthal practices (?)

An Upper Paleolithic cave painting (Trois Freres in France) has been thought to depict a shaman:

According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.

Then I recommend “The Living Goddesses” by Marija Gimbutas
She focuses mainly on the Neolithic period, which she calls the “Old Europe”.
Looks like there is also a free pdf version of it:

    9 The Etruscan Religion
    10 The Basque Religion
    11 The Celtic Religion
    12 The Germanic Religion
    13 The Baltic Religion
I have got one of her books, but I haven't read that one.

Since the“modern Eastern Baltic populations carry the highest proportion of WHG ancestry of all Europeans", one would imagine Lithuanians to carry Europe’s oldest myths and practices.

One of them the ‘tree worship’

‘Tree worship’ in turn could be linked back to the World Tree, the World Pole Cosmology of which we have numerous examples.
    Native American:

    Norse:

Which in turn takes us back to the Mammoth Steppe and the connection between WHG and ANE.

I do feel like a Collins propagandist here and even though these talks should be taken with the grains of salt, imo. they also hold grains of truth.

As the constellation of Cygnus (the Northern Cross) marked the Celestial Pole about 20.000 – 15.000 years ago, therefore I also believe the myths about the World Tree started from there.

At the very least Andrew’s passionate research makes these talks thought provoking:
