I don't know anything about Turkish dishes, so I cannot give my opinion.

All I can say is that I like Italian food a lot. TRUE Italian food , NOT Italian-American food.

Not all southern Italian, just parts of Sicily that face toward North Africa like Trapani, Agrigento, and so on. In western Sicily they replace pasta with couscous, use chickpeas in different dishes (a common street food is hummus fries called "panelle") and different spices. It is certainly more interesting than Neapolitan food.

Chickpeas are common in all of Italy, and Sardinia included and “cous cous” is also used in Sardinia as fregola very traditionally. I would never say Sicilian food is Neapolitan food with North African influences. Sicily has way too many unique dishes to say such a thing, and North African proper food is unique to itself was well. Also Neapolitan food is its own thing.
