    Default Portugal an Anglo-Saxon Economy??

I have read an article years ago that threw Portugal into the Anglo-Saxon social economic model vs the Mediterranean model.

I am curious does it fit in the Anglo-Saxon Model? I do not know much about Portugal.

Portugal made it through the bailouts successfully like the Irish did. Portugal's economy in many way is similar in size and scale to Irelands.

The odd thing is the Mediterranean and Anglo-Saxon model are very very similar in regard to public expenditure spending. Both models spend less as % of GDP on public expenses vs the Nordic or Continental Models.

Well whether it's true or not, calling it an Anglo-Saxon economy is a terrible name

Portugal and Britain have always been close economically due to the fact that Port wine has been popular in the UK for centuries so they have been financing their economy since then because the english love to drink booze. Also, the old Treaty of Windsor had established a close political and commercial alliance between the UK and Portugal, the so-called Atlantic facade.

Well that is because that style developed in the Anlgo-Saxon world.

I am sure you also heard of Austrian Economics,, many people say they are Austrian but they are only referring to the Economics that developed in Austria.

I am more of an Austrian.

Anglo-Saxon has much more of an ethnic connotation than Austrian imo (not really imo - it just does).

But then why was Portugal considered Anglo-Saxon economically, there must be a reason for it?
