I remember some plotting map, and Mycenaeans plotted a little bit closer to south Italians than to Greeks. Then, some people said that this is inaccurate because the tool that was used is about measuring similarity between ancient populations, and not modern. So I guess Litvin is confused after he saw it

But still, according to that study, Greeks are 70% similar with Mycenaeans. Which population can be more similar to the Mycenaeans?

As far as its native population is concerned, it is a hybrid of both. But in any event, circa 40% of people in France have at least one foreign-born grandparent anyway, which makes the country far more complex and mixed still.

Page 2, pic 1: Just showing where the different ancient Greek samples were found.
Page 2, pic 2: PCA map comparing the ancient Greek samples to modern Greeks and other ancient populations such as WHG, steppe (late neolithic/ bronze age) etc.

Page 4: A figure showing Fst (meaning genetic distance; a larger FST= larger genetic distance) distance between the ancient Greek samples and modern Europeans. Redder=lower FST distance(more similar genetically) and bluer= higher FST distance.

Conclusion is that the samples match best with Greeks and Italians overall.
