    Default European Sub-ethnic Groups

This is supposed to be a list of European ethnic groups that contain sub ethnic groups with a strong (maybe even distinct) ethnocultural identity but aren't considered a separate ethnicity. This isn't a list simply for regional groupings. Try to add to this list but try not to add groups that are part of the country, unless they show some significant degree of distinction from the mainstream members of the ethnic group (whether political, cultural, historical, etc). It's hard for me to define sub-ethnic group, so you can do so yourself, but try not to include generic regional groupings. The reason I'm saying that is because then every ethnicity will have 20 subgroups and it will just be a headache to list them. Also, try not to just simply include diaspora populations from neighboring countries. I'll give examples below.

    Albanian
    • Arbëreshë (Italy)
    • Arvanite (Greece)
    • Cham (Greece)
    • Lab
    • Kosovar
    • Arbanasi/Arbeneshe (Bulgaria)
    • Arbanasi/Arbeneshe (Croatia)

    Bulgarian
    • Pomak

    Croat
    • Šokci (Serbia)
    • Bunjevci (Serbia)
    • Krashovani (Romania)
    • Burgenland Croat (Austria)
    • Molise Croat (Italy)
    • Janjevci (Kosovo)

    French
    • Norman
    • Savoyard
    • Walloon

    Finn
    • Ingrian
    • Swedish-speaking Finn

    Greek
    • Pontian (Pontus)
    • Ionian (Ionia)
    • Griko (Italy)
    • Corsica Maniot (Corsica)

    Hungarian
    • Csango (Moldova)
    • Szekler (Transylvania)

    Macedonian (Slavic)
    • Torbesh

    Serb
    • Montenegrin

    Ukrainian
    • Rusyn
    • Lemko
    • Boyko
    • Hutsul

So that's what I have so far. It's pretty short and mainly Eastern Europeans. Add to the list if you can. Also, you can talk about the history/origin of the subgroup if you want.

Technically not European, but I'll mention them anyways since I'm bored:

    Georgian
    • Ingiloy/Her (Azerbaijan)
    • Mingrelian/Zan (called Laz in Turkey)
    • Svan
    • Kartli

    Chechen
    • Kist
    • Ingush

For Albanian you forgot the Arbanasi/Arbeneshe of Croatia and the Arbereshe/Arbanasi of Bulgaria. Also Ghegs and Tosks

The Albanians, these tigers of mountain wars ... have as their religion rebellion. Even their worst warrior is one of the strongest and bravest on the battle-field, just as if he was a knight on the legendary horse. But he has no horse, nor proper weapons for battle. Instead of the horse, he has a lance which strikes as lightning, he has spears who's points are full of posion as the sting of hornets, he has also a wooden bow with some arrows. Furthermore, he is stronger than iron ...

I didn't mention Ghegs and Tosks cause it seemed redundant to mention them since all the subgroups are either Gheg or Tosk. They also seem like too mainstream to mention. Btw, do you know how the Gheg and Tosk identities first developed?

I know that the Gheg and Tosk split happened before the Slavic invasions and that the term Gheg was used to distinguish the Catholics from the Orthodox peoples(Serbs mainly). Ghegs called themselves Arbeneshe and the Tosks Arbereshe before the ethonym "Shqiptar" came along
