Why do many people label blatantly mixed-race people as 'Black'? (Especially in the US)

Its most likely because these mixed people with african roots inherit SSA in there phenotype predominantly.

Even 3/4 European + 1/4 SSA identify itself as Black person.

I'm hardcore supporter of one drop rule and Europeans with partial non-European ancestry are not truly Europeans, but bi-racial/tri-racial.

What if someone is only one sixteenth black and the rest white I would consider them white since they are. The black is literally almost non-existant

Depends on how they are raised. FME, the ones who were raised in White environments tend to say they are mixed.

Well, he grew up in a more racist time, so that was probably why. Also he got into civil rights activism, so that probably gave him more street cred.

African Americans typically have alot of european genes even if they have no known white ancestors. So most black americans are often pretty mixed, so I guess they decide to identify as black.
