i think in this video varg makes some excellent points. many people think we can just pollute and pollute and use up all the resources and destroy the planet and it will be fine because we can just move to a different planet. this is completely ridiculous if you actually think about it, because it would be impossible to find a planet that is suitable for human living. even if there was one it would take literally thousands of years to get there if we could travel at light speed, which we are nowhere near capable of doing.
humans evolved to live on earth, if we lived on another planet there would be major problems like different elements in the atmosphere for breathing, and different gravity that would cause problems for our skeletal system, as well as as different length of day which would cause problems for our circadian system and so on.
"the idea of planetary exploration is like the atheist version of the christian paradise in heaven, it's the need for the impossible."
"why do they want to go to some heavenly paradise? why do they want to visit other planets? what's wrong with life? what's wrong with our own planet? why don't we focus on making this planet a good place to be instead?"
