He was born Christian and died Christian. When he was a small kid, he was sent together with his brothers as a hostage in the Sultan court when the uprising of his father, Gjon Kastrioti failed. There he was converted in Muslim. When he returned in Kruja and started the uprising, he converted again in Christian. His nephew, the son of his brother, Hamza was Muslim. His wife, Donika, the daughter of Arianiti was Orthodox and they married in a Orthodox church. But he died as a Catholic and even his wife is buried in a Catholic church in Spain. Well, must be said that Albanians are not the best example of a religious nation. I tried with few words to explain the situation, but of course is a long discussion.
BTW, first time that i hear about Greek volunteers. We know even about an English knight, John Newport who arrived as a volunteer together with 12 archers, but never about Greeks.
