You can check any FB profile from people living in Aosta. You would be hard pressed to find anything written in French by them. A large portion of Piedmont is also patoisant and many piedmontese have ancestry there including me and the motherfucking Bartolomeo Vanzetti: the symbol of the struggles of italian immigrants was from a provenzal speaking part of Piedmont.
The city of Cuneo had 22k people in 1861 and one century later grew to 60k people because tens of thousands of people from the provenzal valleys moved there. As a result almost all the people living there have ancestry in the patoisant area. If you start separing an italian Piedmont from a french Piedmont it's a slippery slope that won't end up well.
