There are many so called east meds in Europe. A lot of them are just darker pontids

No, not. The Mediterranid race evolved in the Middle-East. The original form was close to the Arabid/Iranid. The three great strain of the Meds are the Euromeds, Orientalids and the Indid. The Pontid is one of the youngest med subtype of the Orientalids, the closest relative of the Pontid is the Caspid race and second is the Irano-Afghan. The Pontid race evolved from a Central Asian med subtype, what was the common ancestor of the Irano-Afghan, Caspid and Pontid races. The ancestors of the Pontids migrated to Europe across the Caucasus at the neolithic times presumably.
