Iran bans English lessons in primary school

Face it, English is the world language. Chinese historically has not had the same geographical spread and it's not a simple language.

If they learn English many of them will be tempted to move to the USA, and California in particular. I don't welcome this idea.

I prefer they just speak Farsi, but then again it's their country and their own business.

Wrong. The Chair of the Dept. of South Asian Studies derives Eire from [P]eire which meant a field for cattle-grazing. Over time, the initial p disappeared.

China and Russia already protect their language against English.
The stance of EU, particularly France and Germany will matter. If they drop their language, Anglos could win ultimately.
