Those people are local residents of Edessa. Look at the video and see how good they speak Greek. They only know there local dialect of Macedonian, which is passed on from there grandparents. They are NOT from the Republic, if that's what your implying.

Yes, you kicked us out of our native home. Many were innocent woman and children. You made us flea all across eastern Europe and the west. Usually the ones who remained, like the ones you see in the videos, would have out of fear just called themselves Greeks in order to remain in their homes. They would have been heavily indoctrinated in their Greek government school system. But look, they've still came out as Macedonians in the end. This has nothing to do with Communism.

During the Greek civil war the border was well and truly closed. Northern Greece was under Greek governance for sure.
